Nissan Qashqai 2021: New Render & New Details

We are back with the new pictures and details of Nissan Qashqai, which we reported about 3 weeks ago. The popular compact SUV Nissan Qashqai is coming onto the market in the third generation. Nissan puts the Qashqai on a new platform and gives it new drives. Now there is more information about the Qashqai e-Power Hybrid!

Shortly before the premiere on February 18, Nissan released a second detailed picture. So it won’t be long before we learn more about the compact SUV. Nevertheless, some information has already leaked – there will be a new type of hybrid drive with the Qashqai e-Power.

If you don’t want to wait any longer for the electrified Qashqai e-Power, you can get the latest Nissan Qashqai 2021 offers or take a look at other hybrid vehicles.

Prices and the start of sales

The new Nissan Qashqai will be presented to the public on February 18th at 11:00 a.m. The third generation of Qashqai will be on the market in a few months, but the e-Power version will not be available until 2022. It is not yet known what prices Nissan is calling. The current Qashqai is available for 21,241 euros.

Engines

One of the biggest innovations concerns the engines because diesel will no longer exist in the new Qashqai. The entry-level model will be a 1.3-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine with either 140 hp or 158 hp. When choosing the higher motorization, you can choose between manual gearshift and stepless automatic. As standard, the Qashqai is delivered as a front-wheel drive, but if you want, you can also get an all-wheel drive. The stepless automatic is standard on board here.

The top model will be the Qashqai e-Power, which will have a serial hybrid with 188 hp. This is a type of hybrid that has so far only rarely been installed in a car. The system works as follows: The internal combustion engine only drives a generator, whose power is fed to the battery or directly to the electric motor. This system has already been seen in the BMW i3 Range Extender.

The advantages of this hybrid system are particularly fast acceleration, quiet drive, and extremely smooth running. It is not yet known what storage capacity the battery will have. But what is clear: you will not be able to reload it externally. It’s a shame a plug-in hybrid would have looked good on the Qashqai.

After a sufficiently strong output is also possible in generator mode, the Qashqai e-Power can also be operated in one-pedal mode. There is a choice of three driving modes: Standard, Sport, and Eco. In standard mode, the Qashqai accelerates and decelerates quickly. If the sport mode is set, the engine shutdown times are shortened and a better acceleration is obtained. In eco mode, you save fuel because the battery optimizes the flow of electricity so that the speed is fairly constant.

Nissan Qashqai 2021 Technical data and exterior design

Nissan announces that the proportions of the current model will be retained because the Qashqai is so successful. That will please the fans and despite the camouflage, you can see that nothing rudimentary will change in the exterior design.

What is changing, however, is the platform. It offers more strength and safety in the event of a potential accident and is still less heavy. More lightweight materials were used and for the first time, the tailgate was made from a plastic composite material that alone saves almost three kilos in weight. Many small things mean that the bodyshell is 60 kilograms lighter than that of the current model and 41 percent stiffer.

What does that bring you? More ride quality, greater comfort, and better responsiveness.

Nissan Qashqai 2021 Interior

Above all, Nissan has further developed the assistance systems. The new assistance system package called “ProPilot with Navi-Link” includes adaptive cruise control that works with Lane Keeping Assist and also works in stop-and-go traffic. The integrated cruise control can also take into account information from traffic sign recognition and data from the navigation system and, for example, reduces the speed before tight corners.

The blind-spot warning is now also active. This means that the assistant controls against it if you want to change lanes and a car is already driving next to you. Flank protection warns the driver of very tight bends or corners if there is a risk of collision from the side. It is also easier to pull out of a parking space because the motion detection helps prevent a collision when reversing.

If you want these features, you have to choose at least the N-Connecta equipment and select the ProPilot system as an optional extra.

The trunk of the new Qashqai is larger because there is more space in the interior thanks to the larger wheelbase. Compared to the current model, there is a whole 50 liters more in the new Qashqai luggage compartment.
