Skoda gives a first look at the fourth generation of the Fabia 2021. And as is common practice, the Czech Republic is also pursuing the tactic: on a silhouette image, the roofline indicates the new proportions of the small car, which is the first to be based on the MQB-A0 modular transverse matrix from the Volkswagen Group.
This means that the next Skoda Fabia 2021 will switch to the technology of VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, and Audi A1. This platform enables improved space and the use of ultra-modern assistance systems and connectivity features. The drive is provided by the latest generation of petrol engines. The world premiere of the new Skoda Fabia will take place in spring 2021.
With the change to the MQB-A0 modular transverse matrix from the Volkswagen Group, the Skoda Fabia is growing in all dimensions compared to its predecessor. For example, the trunk volume, which was previously one of the highlights of the Skoda Fabia 2021, has increased by another 50 liters.
With an even stiffer body structure, the MQB-A0 also enables further improvements in the area of passive safety and optional access to numerous modern assistance systems that were previously only known from higher vehicle categories.
In the fourth generation of the Fabia, Skoda consistently relies on ultra-modern gasoline engines. All available engines come from the EVO engine generation of the Volkswagen Group and combine high efficiency with low emission values. These engines will all be gasoline-powered; Skoda had said goodbye to diesel in the Fabia some time ago.
There is currently a suction gasoline engine with 60 hp in the Fabia, plus the 1.0 TSI with 95 hp. The aforementioned Evo engines provide up to 150 hp in the new VW Golf and will soon also be used in the facelift of the VW Polo. It is still unclear whether there and the 2021 Fabia will also use mild hybrids.
The new Skoda Fabia 2021 is always equipped with front-wheel drive, power transmission is handled by a manual gearbox or an automatic 7-speed direct gearbox. This means that the small car is always well equipped for driving in the city as well as for long distances.
