With Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-Tron, and Mercedes EQC having to catch up, it won’t be that easy to keep the Model X at the front of the field. This is exactly why the Tesla Model X has now been refreshed to offer a radically new interior and a “plaid” performance version with 1,020 hp.

Exterior design

The exterior design is not as affected by the facelift as the interior. So there are just a few subtle redesigns like the vents in the front bumper (to match the updated Tesla Model S ) and you can now choose to replace all of the car’s chrome with black trim.

Tesla Model X 2022 Interior

The interior in the updated Model X has been changed all the more. The most conspicuous and also the most radical innovation is probably the steering wheel, which looks more like it was stolen from a commercial aircraft and nothing that you would expect in a car. We’ll see whether this steering wheel is approved in Germany, but it would be something different from the normal, rounded steering wheels that we have known so far.

Tesla has made another huge change in terms of performance. The new Plaid version with the triple engine option delivers an incredible 1,020 hp to all four wheels, which means that the Model X only needs 2.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h. The top speed is limited to 163 km / h, which is certainly due to the protection of the battery. You can drive 547 kilometers in one go before you have to recharge the Tesla.

However, there is no 1,100 PS Plaid + version like the Model S – not that 1,020 PS is something to complain about …

A dual motor version with all-wheel drive is also available, which offers a range of 580 kilometers between charges. Due to the twin-engine configuration, it takes a little longer from 0 to 100 km / h, namely 3.9 seconds, but it is also significantly cheaper. While we’re at it …
