Toyota Land Cruiser 2021: Price, Engine & Equipment

There are very few pure SUVs left on the market and that’s a shame. Some models have a huge legacy behind them, such as this Toyota Land Cruiser 2021 that has just been renewed. Its first generation saw the light back in 1951 and since then it has undergone a remarkable evolution until it reaches what we see today. This facelift stands out for a mechanical update and improvements to its equipment.

In the aesthetic section, the truth is that the new Toyota Land Cruiser is practically nailed to its predecessor. There are no major changes, the availability of a three-door or five-door body with intact dimensions (4.56 meters in length for the small and 4.84 meters for the large) is maintained, in addition to the design keys. That recognizable grille appears with five vertical slats, 17-19-inch wheels, or rear with the three-dimensional pilots with black sections.

Something similar happens inside the Toyota Land Cruiser. There are no significant modifications compared to the 2018 model and the design of the dashboard is maintained with the 8-inch screen as the control point of the multimedia system. Of course, now it has more connectivity possibilities thanks to mobile integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; a novelty that was not worked before and that has been added to all the models in the range.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2021 Engine

The Toyota Land Cruiser mechanical range will continue to be made up of a single diesel mechanic. It’s the same 2.8D four-cylinder engine, but with a few tweaks to make it more powerful and efficient. If when we tested it delivered 177 hp, from now on its power increases to 204 hp (27 hp more) and also incorporates Stop & Start technology to reduce consumption and emissions. You can continue to choose with a six-speed manual gearbox or with the automatic transmission with the same number of ratios.

It maintains that stringer chassis that makes it so effective off-road driving. Its robustness will remain intact and the off-road angles will remain at 31º for the attack, 22º for the ventral, and 25º for the exit. Other benefits are the ground clearance of 21.5 centimeters, a lateral inclination of up to 44º, or a wading capacity of 70 centimeters.

Equipment

In its equipment, driving aids stand out, counting as standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2. This brings out some very useful technologies such as the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Light Control of road. Optionally, the rear traffic alert and the blind spot detector can be added.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is offered with five trim levels in our country. The NX is homologated as an N1 commercial vehicle and is purely for work. It could be completed with some equipment in the GX trim, which is also within the Toyota Professional department. From day to day are the remaining three VX, VXL, and Limited. The top of the range features a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats with leather upholstery, self-locking rear differential lock (LSD), Multi-Terrain System (MTS), Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), entertainment system for the rear seats, or the JBL premium audio system with 14 speakers.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser is already in pre-sale and the first units are expected to arrive in our country after the summer. The three-door model has a starting price of 40,000 euros, while the five-door increases the rate to 43,100 euros.
