A few weeks ago, from LatestCarNews we informed you of the Volkswagen Passat 2021. As we mentioned at that time, the most relevant novelty is the introduction of TDI diesel engines with ´Twindosing´ technology -double AdBlue injection-, something that allows reducing nitrogen oxides. Also, depending on the version, there is a power gain that will serve to compete with rivals such as the Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6, Opel Insignia, Peugeot 508, or the Renault Talisman.

The diesel range of the Volkswagen Passat 2021 is structured in three versions of the 2.0 TDI; In the first place, we have the variant of 122 hp -250 Nm of maximum torque- linked to the DSG double-clutch automatic gearbox with seven relations. According to official figures, it reaches up to 204 km / h and records an average expenditure of only 4.7 liters / 100 km for the WLTP cycle.

Above, we have the 2.0 TDI 150 hp; With the six-speed manual transmission, it declares a maximum torque of 340 Nm, reaches 223 km / h, and maintains the same average consumption. If we opt for the DSG 7 box, the torque increases to 360 Nm, reaches 220 km / h, and raises the combined cost by two tenths to 4.9 liters / 100 km.

As a performance option, consumers can choose the 200 hp 2.0 TDI paired with the seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. This version has a maximum torque of 400 Nm, reaches 237 km / h, and consumes 5.2 liters / 100 km.
